Paneer Bhurji is a popular preparation loved by Indians across the world. It is an easy, spicy dish that tastes great with bread and parathas. Today I’ve clubbed it with a sandwich.

The most important tip for making a fantastic paneer bhurji is to use fresh paneer and make the bhurji just before serving, otherwise, it tends to get a little soggy.

How to prepare paneer at home

Paneer, also known as Indian Cottage Cheese is a very famous protein-rich food used in Indian recipes. This magically soft, melt-in-mouth ingredient clearly dominates the Indian food menu. Be it appetizers, starters, main course or desserts, paneer rules the vegetarian world.

It is so easy to make at home. All we need is to follow these simple steps and our homemade and fresh paneer is ready to use. This measurement will make approx. 100-120 gms of paneer.

Ingredients

  • 1 litre full fat milk
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 big soft cloth or a muslin cloth

How to proceed

  • In a stainless steel pot, boil the milk and bring it to the boiling point and switch off the flame.
  • Prepare a mixture of vinegar and water as per the above measurement and add it to the milk.
  • Let it stand for 5 minutes, you will see the curds separate from the whey.
  • Drain the curdle milk over the muslin cloth lined over a strainer.
  • Rinse off the curdle milk with fresh water to remove the sour smell.
  • Gather the cloth edges and squeeze the excess water and place heavy weight on paneer.
  • Keep it for an hour or so and our paneer is all set to use.

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp crushed green chilli
  • ¼ cup onion finely chopped
  • ¾ cup tomato finely chopped
  • Round onion, tomato and capsicum rings
  • Green chutney
  • Turmeric powder
  • Red chilli powder
  • Cumin powder
  • 100 gms grated paneer
  • Garam Masala
  • Salt to taste

How to prepare

  • Take a pan and add butter, ginger garlic paste, crushed green chili, finely chopped onion and tomato.
  • Add little water and add all the spices. Allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add grated paneer and then cook it on slow flame for 5-7 minutes.
  • Add garam masala. Gravy is ready.
  • Take bread. Spread butter and then add gravy to it.
  • Add cheese slice and then round onion rings, tomato rings and capsicum rings to it.
  • Add green chutney and then cover it with another bread slice.
  • Grill the sandwich and serve hot with ketchup.
